Monaco GP

Of all the numerous venues of the F1 GPs, the Monte-Carlo Street circuit is one of my favourites. Likewise, many drivers too have a special spot in their hearts as far as this race is concerned. The reason is that being a street circuit, things are very different from the conventional racing track. So a win in Monaco is quite an achievement. Needless to say, Schumi won it before and he still holds the lap record till today.

Singapore will also be similar in that the GP next year will be something similar although we might not have the classic tunnel. I recall the commentator saying from the start of the race till the end, each car would have made more than 3000 gear shifts. As you can imagine the circuit is quite narrow and winding, frequent gear changes are inevitable. The many twists and turns also test drivers' skills in that any slight mistake will see them craching onto the walls. Moreover, mechanical reliability is essential as the cars hardly get a chance to hit their full speed due to the layout.

So what will it be this weekend in Monte-Carlo? We will know the final result when the first car crosses the checkered flag.
