Fire at the block next to mine

We were watching tv earlier at about 9 or so when we heard sirens blaring. It continued for quite a while and we smelt something burning. Looking out of the living room window, we could see the fire engine pull up in front of the neighbouring block and many residents had made their way to the void deck. Some were still along the corridor looking towards the affected unit. The SCDF hurriedly alighted and set up the hoses. There was smoke billowing from the fourth floor stair well. I alerted my neighbour as well. Closing the doors and windows was a good move so that the smoke will not seep into the house.

A crowd had gathered below and we could see that other units were pitch black. It could have been caused by the fire which may have tripped the circuit breakers. After analyzing the situation, we felt it was not necessary for us to evacuate. Heard my neighbour saying that it might be on STOMP! Not surprising though since many people will simply post such stuff.
